Adventing with St. James
The second year of “The National Eucharistic Revival” is designated as The Year of Parish Revival. Bishop Hanefeldt is traveling through parishes in the diocese presiding at a Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. Our Bishop has invited parishes in the diocese to offer this devotion on a monthly basis during the Parish Year of the Revival.
We will have our first monthly Holy Hour for Peace: Evening Prayer with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction on Thurs, December 7 at 6 p.m. We will continue this ritual on the first Thursday of the month through the Season of Lent. I encourage you to join this monthly Holy Hour on the first Thursday of the month along with our First Friday 8 a.m. Mass followed by Exposition until 1 p.m.
The ritual book Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharist Outside of Mass teaches: “In addition to the celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic devotions are important for the life of the parish for they [invite] us to the spiritual union with him that culminates in the sacramental communion.”
Guidelines for this form of devotion outside of Mass are given in the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship, Decree, Eucharistiae sacramentum, “the sacred species are reserved after Mass principally so that the faithful who cannot be present at Mass, above all the sick and those advanced in age, may be united by sacramental Communion to Christ and his Sacrifice which is offered in the Mass. Thus, all our devotions, including hours of adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, need to flow from the Mass, and not vice versa. This reservation of the Eucharist also permits the practice of adoring this great Sacrament and offering it the worship due to God. Accordingly, these forms of adoration are not only private but also public and communitarian in nature, as established or approved by the Church herself.”
Everyone is invited to join our parish celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sun, December 10th at the 12:30 pm Mass followed by a dinner and dances in the KCHS Old Gym. The actual Feast Day is on December 12th which celebrates Mary’s appearance to St. Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531. On October 12, 1945, Pope Pius XII, decreed Our Lady of Guadalupe to be "Patroness of all the Americas." This image of “Santa Maria” is in our church by the tabernacle. Her feast day is a Holy Day of Obligation in Mexico.

El Segundo año de “El Avivamiento Eucarístico Nacional” es designado como El Año de Avivamiento Parroquial. El Obispo Hanefeldt esta viajando por las parroquias en la diócesis presidiendo en una hora santa con la exposición del Sagrado Sacramento y Bendición. Nuestro Obispo ha invitado a las parroquias de la diócesis a ofrecer devociones mensuales durante el Año de Avivamiento Parroquial.
Tendremos nuestra primera Hora Santa mensual por la Paz: Oración vespertina con exposición del Santísimo Sacramento y Bendición el jueves 7 de diciembre a las 6 p.m.Continuaremos este ritual el primer jueves del mes hasta el tiempo de Cuaresma. Los animo a unirse a esta Hora Santa mensual el primer jueves del mes junto con nuestra Misa del primer viernes a las 8 a. m., seguida de una Exposición hasta la 1 p. m.
El libro ritual Sagrada Comunión y del Culto a la Eucaristía Fuera de la Misa enseña: “Además de la celebración de la Misa, las devociones eucarísticas son importantes para la vida de la parroquia porque [nos invitan] a la unión espiritual con Él que culmina en la comunión sacramental”.
Las guías para esta forma de devoción fuera de la Misa se dan en el Decreto de la Sagrada Congregación para el Culto Divino, Eucharistiae sacramentum, “las especies sagradas se reservan después de la Misa principalmente para que los fieles que no pueden estar presentes en la Misa, sobre todo los enfermos y aquellos de edad avanzada, pueden estar unidos por la Comunión sacramental a Cristo y su Sacrificio que se ofrece en la Misa. Por lo tanto, todas nuestras devociones, incluidas las horas de adoración en presencia del Santísimo Sacramento, deben fluir de la Misa, y no del vicio. viceversa. Esta reserva de la Eucaristía permite también practicar la adoración de este gran Sacramento y ofrecerle el culto debido a Dios. Por tanto, estas formas de adoración no sólo son de carácter privado sino también público y comunitario, según lo establece o aprueba la propia Iglesia”.
Todos están invitados a unirse a nuestra celebración parroquial de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe el domingo 10 de diciembre en la misa de las 12:30 pm seguida de una cena y bailes en el antiguo gimnasio de KCHS.La fiesta real es el 12 de diciembre, que celebra la aparición de María a San Juan Diego en México en 1531. El 12 de octubre de 1945, el Papa Pío XII decretó que Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe fuera "Patrona de todas las Américas". Esta imagen de “Santa María” se encuentra en nuestra iglesia junto al sagrario. Su fiesta es un Día Santo de Obligación en México.
