Behold, the Lamb of God!

    As we gather to celebrate the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year A, Mother Church draws our attention to Jesus Christ, the “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” 
   Though He was in this elevated capacity, He was a “Servant” and He carried out the Will of the Father with perfect obedience.
   At Baptism, God calls us personally for a very important purpose, to do the Will of God. We have a public vocation to be a parent, doctor, teacher, priest, businessperson, name it. This is the vocation that people see, but within it is a deeper purpose, to act like John the Baptist, to tell others, “Behold Jesus the Lamb of God.” We have a duty to point the way to Christ for others. This is our baptismal mission; this is the will of God for our life.
   Like a Lamb, we need to live pure, humble and selfless lives. Like the sacrificial Lamb, we need to exercise the sacrificial sharing of our blessings of health, wealth, and talents with others in the family, parish, and community.
   We are blessed that Jesus Christ renews us in the Sacrament of penance so that what was once an omission in our life may become a mission.
   As your Pastors, we continue to encourage you to get involved in the different faith building ministries here at the Parish, such as: The Watchmen – for men, Women’s Study Group – for women, F.I.R.E – for the youth, The Chosen – open to all, The Hispanic group Viñador. and the different small faith enrichment groups. The journey of faith can be impossible if traveled alone. We all need to grow together as we point one another to the “Lamb of God.”  We wish you God’s blessings in your lives.

 ¡He aquí el Cordero de Dios!

   Al reunirnos para celebrar el Segundo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario, Año A, la Madre Iglesia dirige nuestra atención a Jesucristo, el “Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo”.
   Aunque Él se encontraba en esta elevada dignidad, fue un “Servidor” y llevó a cabo la Voluntad del Padre con perfecta obediencia.
    En el Bautismo, Dios nos llama personalmente para un propósito muy importante: cumplir la Voluntad de Dios. Tenemos una vocación pública: ser padre o madre, médico, maestro, sacerdote, empresario, lo que sea. Esta es la vocación que la gente ve, pero dentro de ella hay un propósito más profundo: actuar como Juan el Bautista y decir a los demás: “He aquí Jesús, el Cordero de Dios”. Tenemos el deber de señalar el camino hacia Cristo para los demás. Esta es nuestra misión bautismal; esta es la voluntad de Dios para nuestra vida.
   Como Cordero, necesitamos vivir vidas puras, humildes y desinteresadas. Como el Cordero sacrificado, necesitamos practicar el compartir sacrificialmente nuestras bendiciones de salud, bienes y talentos con los demás en la familia, la parroquia y la comunidad.
   Somos bendecidos porque Jesucristo nos renueva en el Sacramento de la Penitencia, de modo que lo que una vez fue una omisión en nuestra vida puede convertirse en una misión.
   Como sus Pastores, continuamos animándolos a involucrarse en los diferentes ministerios de formación de fe aquí en la parroquia, tales como: The Watchmen – para hombres, Estudio Bíblico – para mujeres, F.I.R.E – para los jóvenes, The Chosen – abierto a todos, El Grupo Hispano El Viñador, y los diferentes grupos pequeños de enriquecimiento de la fe. El camino de la fe puede ser imposible si se recorre en soledad. Todos necesitamos crecer juntos mientras nos señalamos unos a otros al “Cordero de Dios”. Les deseamos las bendiciones de Dios en sus vidas.
