Another Fishing Story
Well, the weather was getting colder, but now it is getting warmer! This is really playing with my mind since I am very much looking forward to ice fishing and winter/ cold weather activities. Most people think I am a little crazy when they hear how much I love winter and cold weather. I even dream about ice fishing this time of year! I guess as long as it stays cold up North, then my annual ice fishing trip will be a great time to enjoy winter and dream of catching bigger fish.
“Dreamer. You’re nothing but a dreamer. Well, can you put your hands in your head? Oh no!”
This song by Supertramp kept coming to my head as I was reading the Gospel for this weekend. I thought about the angel coming to Joseph in a dream. How he was so moved that he decided to change his original intention and take Mary into his home. Dreams can be very powerful. I also thought of the children and the dreams of a “white Christmas” and candy canes and the like.
The readings this weekend inspire us to hope and contemplate greater things. Not just to dream big, but to see the dream come true. Jesus is about to be born at Christmas and this birth changes everything for us. We are told, “Nothing will be impossible for God”. Do you believe this? Can you dream the dream that seems impossible to be true? Joseph and Mary believed that God had given them the privilege of bringing the Christ child into the world. What they dreamed of, became the reality of salvation for all mankind, for all believers. They were more than dreamers, they were believers. Which one are you? Are you the one in the Supertramp song, “Nothing but a dreamer”? Or are you a believer, like Mary and Joseph? God is about to do amazing with you if you only believe. Come Lord Jesus. Come!

Otra Historia de Pesca
Bueno, el clima se estaba volviendo más frío, ¡pero ahora está empezando a calentarse! Esto realmente me juega una mala pasada en la mente, ya que tengo muchas ganas de que llegue la pesca en el hielo y las actividades de invierno / clima frío. La mayoría de la gente piensa que estoy un poco loco cuando escucha cuánto amo el invierno y el frío. ¡Incluso sueño con la pesca en el hielo en esta época del año! Supongo que mientras siga haciendo frío en el norte, entonces mi viaje anual de pesca en el hielo será un gran momento para disfrutar del invierno y soñar con atrapar peces más grandes.
"Soñador. No eres más que un soñador. Bueno, ¿puedes poner tus manos en tu cabeza? ¡Oh no!"
Esta canción de Supertramp no dejaba de venir a mi mente mientras leía el Evangelio para este fin de semana. Pensé en el ángel que se apareció a José en un sueño y en cómo él quedó tan conmovido que decidió cambiar su intención original y recibir a María en su hogar. Los sueños pueden ser muy poderosos. También pensé en los niños y en sus sueños de una “Navidad blanca”, bastones de caramelo y cosas por el estilo.
Las lecturas de este fin de semana nos inspiran a tener esperanza y a contemplar cosas más grandes. No solo a soñar en grande, sino a ver cómo el sueño se hace realidad. Jesús está a punto de nacer en Navidad y este nacimiento lo cambia todo para nosotros. Se nos dice: «Nada es imposible para Dios». ¿Crees esto? ¿Puedes soñar el sueño que parece imposible de hacerse realidad? José y María creyeron que Dios les había concedido el privilegio de traer al Niño Cristo al mundo. Aquello con lo que soñaron se convirtió en la realidad de la salvación para toda la humanidad, para todos los creyentes. Fueron más que soñadores: fueron creyentes. ¿Cuál eres tú? ¿Eres el de la canción de Supertramp, “nada más que un soñador”? ¿O eres un creyente, como María y José? Dios está a punto de hacer cosas increíbles contigo, si tan solo crees. Ven, Señor Jesús. ¡Ven!
