Members advise the pastor in areas concerning financial matters. Three-year term. Monthly meetings.

Liturgy Committee

Members assist in training liturgical ministers and planning liturgies for each season and special occasions according to liturgical documents and local tradition. Monthly meetings.

Buildings and Grounds

Members meet to offer directives as well as talents in an effort to maintain and improve the physical condition, safety and operation of the parish facilities and infrastructure. Three-year term.

Social Committee

The Social Committee organizes and sponsors social activities for the parish community. Social Committee members host receptions for RCIA, First Communion, and Confirmation. Coffee and Donuts are served on the 2nd Sunday of each month; they sponsor a Soup Supper in January, a BBQ in July for the Feast of Saint James, and plan other parish social events.

Stewardship Committee

This committee helps the pastor guide the development of stewardship within the parish. The committee seeks ways to promote a stewardship lifestyle within the parish through year-round communication and the annual Stewardship Renewal.

Welcome Committee

Contact all newly registered parishioners inviting them to St. James’s coffee/donuts. Help with Welcoming packets.

Oktoberfest Committee

Plans, organizes and oversees the annual fall “fun raiser/fund raiser”. This committee has four sub-committees: (1) dinner, (2) carnival-bake sale-bingo, (3) drawing for prizes and silent auction, (4) publicity. 12-16 members serve three years.

Community Life

This committee supports St. James’ outreach into the Kearney community. Activities this committee currently supports are: Monthly Safe Center meals, Coat & Mitten drive for Jubilee Center, Weekly Jubilee meals during the month of April, Monthly non-perishable food drive for Jubilee Center, Goodfellows Christmas Shoebox Project, Advent Tree and Easter Caring Tree. 6-10 members serve three years.

KCHS School Board

Members are St. James parishioners who are nominated to represent on the board. They are a policy-making board and advisory to the pastors of St. James and Prince of Peace. They serve a three-year term and have monthly meetings.

Religious Education Committee

The committee meets on an average of 6 times a year. It is a group that lends support and acts as a sounding board to the director. On occasion they are asked to help with sacrament celebrations. The focus is to enhance the Religious Education program for the children of St. James.

Office Support

Projects include: stuffing inserts in the bulletin, answering phones, helping with large mailings.

Communications Committee

Parishioners with interest in communication technologies or tactics such as writing, photography, social media or web development are needed to help update the website and post to the St. James social media accounts - Facebook & YouTube. Photographers to document and share photos from special events are also needed.
