To the Paschal Mysteries at St. James
I want to encourage everyone to plan your “Holy Week” activities around our parish liturgies of “THE SACRED PASCHAL TRIDUUM. ” This high point, the mountain of our Lenten journey, will be celebrated March 28-31.
“The Sacred Paschal Triduum” is observed as an annual retreat in all Catholic parishes around the world. Consider making the liturgical celebrations a priority and fit the rest of your week around them. If you cannot attend the services, make time to pray at home or visit the church. As we experience this “Paschal Mystery” of our salvation, may we all live, die, and rise in unity with the whole church.
Saint Pope Leo the Great (400-461) in a sermon “contemplating the Lord’s passion,” preached: True reverence for the Lord’s passion means fixing the eyes of our heart on Jesus crucified and recognizing in him our own humanity.
Again, who cannot recognize in Christ his own infirmities? Who would not recognize that Christ’s eating and sleeping, his sadness and his shedding of tears of love are marks of the nature of a slave?
It was this nature of a slave that had to be healed of its ancient wounds and cleansed of the defilement of sin. For that reason the only-begotten Son of God became also the son of man. He was to have both the reality of a human nature and the fullness of the godhead.
The body that lay lifeless in the tomb is ours. The body that rose again on the third day is ours. The body that ascended above all the heights of heaven to the right hand of the Father’s glory is ours. If then we walk in the way of his commandments, and are not ashamed to acknowledge the price he paid for our salvation in a lowly body, we too are to rise to share his glory.

A los Misterios Pascuales de St. James
Quiero animar a todos a planificar sus actividades de "Semana Santa" en torno a nuestras liturgias parroquiales de “EL TRIDUO PASCUAL”Este punto culminante, la montaña de nuestro camino de Cuaresma, se celebrará del 28 al 31 de marzo.
“El Triduo Pascual Sagrado” se observan como un retiro anual en todas las parroquias católicas del mundo. Considere hacer de las celebraciones litúrgicas una prioridad y ajuste el resto de su semana en torno a ellas. Si no puede asistir a los servicios, haga tiempo para orar en casa o visitar la iglesia. Mientras experimentamos este “Misterio Pascual” de nuestra salvación, que todos vivamos, muramos y resucitemos en unidad con toda la iglesia.
De los sermones de san León Magno, papa (400-461) CONTEMPLACIÓN DE LA PASIÓN DEL SEÑOR dijo: El verdadero venerador de la pasión del Señor tiene que contemplar de tal manera, con la mirada del corazón, a Jesús crucificado, que reconozca en él su propia carne.
¿quién no reconocerá en él sus propias debilidades? ¿Quién dejará de advertir que el hecho de tomar alimento, buscar el descanso y el sueño, experimentar la solicitud de la tristeza y las lágrimas de la compasión es fruto de la condición humana del Señor? Y como, desde antiguo, la condición humana esperaba ser sanada de sus heridas y purificada de sus pecados, el que era unigénito Hijo de Dios quiso hacerse también hijo de hombre, para que no le faltara ni la realidad de la naturaleza humana ni la plenitud de la naturaleza divina.
Nuestro es lo que, por tres días, yació exánime en el sepulcro y, al tercer día, resucitó; lo que ascendió sobre todas las alturas de los cielos hasta la diestra de la majestad paterna: para que también nosotros, si caminamos tras sus mandatos y no nos avergonzamos de reconocer lo que, en la humildad del cuerpo, tiene que ver con nuestra salvación, seamos llevados hasta la compañía de su gloria; puesto que habrá de cumplirse lo que manifiestamente proclamó: Si uno se pone de mi parte ante los hombres, yo también me pondré de su parte ante mi Padre del cielo.
