They are to arrive 20 minutes before the start of Mass and stand near their designated entrance. Following Mass, the greeters hand out the bulletins as parishioners leave the church. Training will be provided.

Sound & Media

Sound and Media lay ministers provide the means for the body of Christ to fully participate in the Mass and sacramental events of the church. Lay ministers operate microphones and speakers for Leaders, Proclaimers, and music ministry, as well as project songs and responsorial prayers onto the front screen. Sound and Media lay ministers are vital to Mass,  First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and special events in the life of St. James.

All Sound and Media lay ministers will be trained and mentored until they are comfortable working the sound/media booth. One Sound and one Media lay minister will be assigned to each Mass on a monthly basis. The team system works well & provides support for everyone.

Alter Servers

The role of the Altar Server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. Some of the Altar Server responsibilities include: caring for the altar candles, bearing the cross and candles in the entrance procession and assisting with holy water, water, wine and offertory gifts at Mass.

This ministry is open to boys and girls in grades 5 and above.  Training sessions are held regularly. Young people may join at any time during the year.
