Fishing with St. James

Sunday, August 13, 2017

A newly formed “Be My Witness Team/Grupo Sean Mis Testigos” is planning for engaging the parish in faith sharing in small groups (English y Español). If you want to be a part of the planning process please attend our next meeting on Wednesday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. at the church. If you are interested and can’t make the meeting contact the parish office.

Our parish hopes to purchase preschool playground equipment, child safe playground turf, and fencing for the south-west courtyard to be used by the Little Fish Preschool. This will be possible with the success of a fundraiser lead by the Little Fish Preschool director, Crystal Vanderbeek. The goal is $25,000. We have already received $8,500, so we need to raise only $16,500 more. More information will be in next weeks bulletin insert.

August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary reminds us to continue to honor Mary’s important role in our lives. Because school has not started, the Holy Day Masses at St. James are on Tuesday, August 15th at 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. There will be NO 12 noon Mass. Prince of Peace has a vigil Mass for the Holy Day on Monday, August 14th, at 6:00 p.m. and then Masses on Tuesday, August 15th are 7:30 a.m. and 12:05 p.m.

Vatican II proclaimed in the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, (68) “In the bodily and spiritual glory which she possesses in heaven, the Mother of Jesus continues in this present world as the image and first flowering of the Church as she is to be perfected in the world to come. Likewise, Mary shines forth on earth, until the day of the Lord shall come (cf. 2 Peter 3:10), as a sign of certain hope and comfort for the pilgrim People of God.”

May all the pilgrim people of God know this hope and comfort!

I AM Joseph your brother, Fr. Joe Hannappel

Mission Statement

St. James parish is established to be a sign of the presence of the Kingdom of God, to spread the Good News of the Gospel and to minister and serve others. As Catholics we believe in Jesus' dying and rising and in our call to celebrate the Sacraments and proclaim the Gospel.
