Another Fishing Story

“Brothers and sisters: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-8)
     I read this passage from our second reading this weekend and am so grateful for all of you. Last weekend was Priesthood Sunday, and so many left such kind and heartfelt notes and remarks for us priests. We are the ones who have been blessed to be able to serve you all in the ministry of the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. I want to thank all of you for your support and prayers. Please continue to pray for us as we work in this vineyard which we have been entrusted and the care for the souls we are leading to heaven.
     I also want to express my gratitude for Fr. Anthony and Fr. Art. I am so blessed to have such holy and generous priests to assist in the ministry here at St. James. I could not do all that I do as the pastor, if I did not have the help of these two extraordinary men, who have offered their lives in humble service. A vineyard requires many laborers to tend the vine and produce a harvest worthy of the Kingdom. We have a number of examples in the readings this weekend of how this can go very wrong and how it can go very well. We are all working in this local vineyard and the fruits I can already see, are abundant and vibrant and gushing with life. Thank you all for your faith and willingness to be co-workers in the vineyard. May God be praised in all we do and, in the harvest, we gather for Him and for eternity.

“Hermanos y hermanas: No se preocupen por nada; más bien, en toda ocasión, con oración y súplica, presenten sus peticiones a Dios y denle gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que supera todo entendimiento, custodiará sus corazones y sus pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.” (Filipenses 4:6-8)
      Leí este pasaje de nuestra segunda lectura este fin de semana y estoy muy agradecido por todos ustedes. El fin de semana pasado celebramos el Domingo del Sacerdocio, y muchos de ustedes nos dejaron mensajes y palabras tan amables y llenas de cariño a nosotros, los sacerdotes. Nosotros somos los que hemos recibido la bendición de poder servirles a todos en el ministerio del Sacerdocio de Jesucristo. Quiero agradecerles a todos por su apoyo y sus oraciones. Por favor, continúen orando por nosotros mientras trabajamos en esta viña que nos ha sido confiada y en el cuidado de las almas que estamos guiando hacia el cielo.
     También quiero expresar mi gratitud al Padre Anthony y al Padre Art. Soy muy bendecido de contar con sacerdotes tan santos y generosos que me ayudan en el ministerio aquí en San Santiago. No podría hacer todo lo que hago como párroco si no contara con la ayuda de estos dos hombres extraordinarios, quienes han ofrecido sus vidas al servicio humilde de los demás.Una viña requiere de muchos trabajadores que cuiden de las vides y produzcan una cosecha digna del Reino. En las lecturas de este fin de semana encontramos varios ejemplos de cómo esto puede salir muy mal y también de cómo puede salir muy bien. Todos estamos trabajando en esta viña local, y los frutos que ya puedo ver son abundantes, vibrantes y rebosantes de vida.Gracias a todos por su fe y por su disposición a ser colaboradores en la viña. Que Dios sea alabado en todo lo que hacemos y en la cosecha que reunimos para Él y para la eternidad.
