Quid Agis - What's Happening

Quid Agis - What’s Happening

The beginning of August marks the downward slide of the summer season. I hope everyone has had a safe summer. We do have multiple weddings this month. School will begin at Kearney Catholic on August 16 and preparations are already underway on the practice fields visible from our offices.

St.James will continue to commemorate the feast of our Lady of Fatima on the 13th of this month. This is a Sunday. This is also the date for the second Sunday Spanish mass at 12:15 PM. Please note the feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15th. This is a holy day of obligation with mass times at 7 AM and 6 PM.

Plans are in full swing for Oktoberfest. There is a need for kitchen supervisory help. If you have items for the silent auction please let us know. The Oktoberfest committee will never turn down additional donations or help.

The state of our church building has improved since making everyone aware of the harmful effects of candy, gum, etc. Many thanks. I would like to point out, though, that we ask that furniture not be moved between rooms. I have found chairs and other items in places where they do not belong. We do not want to see any injuries as a result of moving furniture.

Mission Statement

St. James parish is established to be a sign of the presence of the Kingdom of God, to spread the Good News of the Gospel and to minister and serve others. As Catholics we believe in Jesus' dying and rising and in our call to celebrate the Sacraments and proclaim the Gospel.
