It has been a bit of time since my last article. Numerous things have transpired since that time. We have been through the Advent season and Christmas. The 1st Sunday of Advent marked the change in liturgical year. We have moved from liturgical year “B” to liturgical year “C”. As summer draws to a close and we make plans for the fall/school season there are several updates for everyone. It has been a busy season for weddings and for baptisms. This is very good for a dynamic parish like St. James. Also, if you have not picked up your parish directory, please do so as soon as possible. There are very few that remain. It doesn’t seem possible, yet at the end of June I will have been with St. James for 2 years. The time has flown by. During that time there has been a very successful “Uniting in the Light” capital campaign. New participants are always welcome. The Stations of the Cross have been finished and hung. St. James will accept donations for area flood relief.  You can make a donation in the collection or at the office. We will distribute all donations to local organizations and individuals effected by the flood in our area. A second collection will be taken the weekend of August 3-4.

Some other organizations where you can make donations: The Jubilee Center, Gibbon Area Flood relief, Gibbon Fire Department, The Kearney Community Foundation, Hot Meals USA, The Red Cross, and The Salvation Army.
