Casting the Net with St James

Quid Agis - What's Happening

Quid Agis - What’s Happening

It is hard to believe but April 1 marks the one-year anniversary of the completion our renovation project that had its beginnings with the Catholic Community of Kearney capital campaign. The initial move was a return of the Parish Offices to their new home. The much-needed room is very functional. Subsequently the remainder of the Church was moved. April 24 will mark the one-year anniversary of the Right of Dedication of the St. James Church and Alter. Since the dedication, the parish has continued to “personalize” the church. There has been a committee set up to serve as advisers regarding the liturgical art for the building. As with any move, there is a bit of a delay in displaying the artwork and pictures of the parish. I would like to take this time to acknowledge the work of our dedicated parishioners. It is amazing the job that these talented parishioners do. As we enter into the Easter season, there is much work behind the scenes planning the liturgy, decorations and the overall process for the celebration of this Holy season.

Please take note of the Holy Week schedule that was enclosed in the bulletin and also found online. Bring your Rice Bowl donations by Holy Thursday. There is one more week of evening Stations of the Cross this Friday. The Holy Saturday liturgy will begin with the lighting of the Easter fire at 8 PM. Baptism by submersion will occur using our new Baptismal Font. The waters of baptism will be blessed during the Easter Vigil and all are welcome to take a container of the newly blessed water home with them.
