Bishops’ Joint Statement on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Youth. Our three Catholic Bishops (Archbishop George J. Lucas, Bishop James D. Conley, and Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeldt) have issued a joint statement on DACA youth. The statement, inserted in this bulletin, is intended to express solidarity with DACA youth who face a politically and legally volatile situation, call upon our federal congressional delegation to find permanent legislative resolutions for DACA youth, and raise public awareness about DACA youth and their situation.

Catholic Social Teaching There will be eight sessions on the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching to be held once a month beginning in September (except December) until May 2018. Catholic Social Teaching is what the Catholic Church teaches us about our responsibility to make the world a better place. It includes all of the writings of Bishops and Popes that help us understand how to apply the teaching of Jesus in contemporary situations. By knowing and understanding them, we can begin to see the world they way that God wants it to be. Once we see, then we can start to make changes!

I AM Joseph your brother, Fr. Joe Hannappel
