St. James Social Justice Mission Statement

St. James Catholic Church is committed to raising the awareness of and understanding of Catholic Social Justice principles; to advocating for those principles; and to putting those principles into action in our family, economic and community life.

St. James Social Justice Committee Values Statement

The Catholic Social Justice Committee at St. James exists to aid in actively and consistently promoting Catholic Social Justice teachings in our parish as a central and essential element of Catholic faith. The committee recognizes that God's special love for those who are poor is rooted in both the Hebrew and Christian Scripture. In addition, this committee will train and educate so that it is evident that Catholic Social Teaching is founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ. The committee will focus on Jesus, who came "to bring glad tidings to the poor ... liberty to captives ... recovery of sight to the blind" (Lk 4: 18-19) and who identified himself with "the least of these," the hungry and the stranger (Mt 25:45).
